The Gauteng Partnership Fund (GPF) marked the culmination of its 2025 Corporate Social Investment (CSI) Programme with a successful handover ceremony recognising this year’s beneficiary, Kideo Nursery School & Baby Care in Mohlakeng, Randfontein.
The event brought together parents, educators, community leaders, and GPF staff to celebrate a project that has meaningfully transformed an Early Childhood Development (ECD) centre serving children from low-income households.
Selected through a rigorous evaluation process, Kideo Nursery School & Baby Care received targeted infrastructure upgrades that will significantly improve safety, hygiene and the overall learning experience. In the three weeks leading up to project completion, the GPF oversaw:
- Installation of four new child-friendly toilet facilities
- Installation of a pressure-efficient geyser to enhance hygiene
- A 2,500-litre JoJo tank with a full filtration system to ensure clean, reliable water
- Fresh interior and exterior paintwork, using safe, non-toxic materials to create a bright, child-centred environment.

All upgrades were delivered on schedule, passed quality assurance testing, and received strong satisfaction from the school’s management.
Kideo Nursery is a women-led organisation serving young children from underserved households, a perfect match for the GPF’s CSI Policy, which prioritises upliftment of women, youth, children, and persons with disabilities through sustainable, community-rooted development.
Project administrator Neliswa Ngcaku expressed their gratitude: “The GPF has managed to do everything we could not do in the past 16 years. We’ve existed for more than 19 years, but we’ve been struggling just to renovate our toilets or do basic paintwork.

“It’s an environment that is now welcoming, and we’re confident we will attract more parents next year. Abantu bayadlula la, bayafika, bayabona and they’re very impressed. They see that we’re taking education to the next level, all because of the GPF. Siyabonga!” she added.
Speaking at the ceremony, GPF CEO Lindiwe Kwele emphasised that the programme is about far more than infrastructure: “This project is about investing in dignity, opportunity and hope. We wanted to ensure that the children and caregivers of Kideo Nursery School have an environment that supports learning, nurtures confidence, and strengthens the foundation for lifelong development.”
She also reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to social impact through meaningful, long-term partnerships that uplift communities across Gauteng.
Principal Aurelia Nomvuyo Motsumi, who joined as a teacher around 19 years ago, said the upgrades to the facility had gone beyond her expectations, thanking the GPF for its commitment to empowering youth.
“Modimo o teng and wa araba [God answers all prayers],” she said.
She also honoured the founder of Kideo Nursery School & Baby Care, Nomathemba Ngcaku, saying: “My family loves children. We don’t do this for the money, but for the children. This is something we saw from our mother, who has always been passionate about raising children, so it’s been our dream to continue her legacy.”
Ngcaku was in attendance to accept the donations from GPF staff. She expressed gratitude, saying: “The GPF has transformed our ECD to a more stimulating, safe and conducive learning environment. Today was a success and a highlight for Kideo Nursery School, as it marked a significant milestone of our long term goal. We are also so thankful for the clothing, backpacks and groceries for our daily nutritious meals.”
Ward Councillor Philile Kenneth Faku told the teachers during the ceremony: “We are proud to support the work you do… We recognise the invaluable role that teachers play in shaping and guiding our young, intelligent learners. Today, we extend our gratitude to every educator and caregiver for their dedication. We will move forward in our commitment to creating safe, dignified and nurturing spaces where our children can learn.”
